Rittal Enclosure Heat Exchangers

Air-to-air heat exchangers deliver convection cooling to heat producing electrical equipment using a closed loop cooling system. The closed loop design cools and recirculates the air inside an electrical enclosure, while isolating electrical components from environments that may contain contaminants.
The air-to-air heat exchangers utilize copper heat pipes surrounded by extruded fins. The fins increase the surface area allowing faster heat absorption and dissipation. The copper pipes contain a phase changing liquid that absorbs heat from the heated enclosure where it is then converted to vapor. The heated vapor automatically moves to the cooler end of the heat pipe, which is exposed to the cooler ambient air outside the enclosure.
The excess heat is expelled out and the vapor is changed back into liquid, which then moves back towards the warmer end of the heat pipe. The heating and cooling process repeats continuously. Air-to-water heat exchangers use the same principle of temperature differential, but they alter the internal air temperature by forcing air across water coils.

More Information about Rittal Enclosure Heat Exchangers
Rittal Air/Air Heat Exchangers are designed with two separate air circuits to prevent the ingress of dust into the enclosure. The cooling input ranges from 17.5 to 90 W/K. The temperature difference between the internal and external circuit will have a decisive effect on the amount of heat loss that may be dissipated. Air/Water Heat Exchangers are designed for wall mounting with the cooling output range from 0.3 to 7 kW. The cooling outputs 0.65 kW and 1.2 kW are available in IP 56/59 for hygienically sensitive production areas in the food and beverage industry.
Industrial Enclosure Accessories and Modifications
Lighting kits
Lighting kits are often used in outdoor applications. There are many different styles of lighting kits that can be used, but LEDs have become the preferred lighting solution in the past several years.
Pressure switches
Pressure switches operate on a spring and react to the cabinet door opening and closing. They can be used for lights, intrusions alarms and exhaust fans.
Passive Air Vents
Passive air vents allow natural air circulation to flow through a cabinet providing proper ventilation.
Enclosure Fans
Enclosure air fans are used when more ventilation is required. The size of the fan will depend on the size of the enclosure as well as the amount of air that needs to be circulated.
Air Conditioners
Air conditioners are used when ambient air circulation is inadequate to cool the cabinet. The air conditioner size will depend on the enclosure size, ambient air temperature and heat generated within the cabinet.
Heaters
Heaters are used when a cabinet is located in areas that may be exposed to cold temperatures.
Locking Mechanisms
Locking mechanisms are used to secure cabinets.
Conduit Hole Seals
Conduit hole seals are used on cabinets that have holes that need to be plugged after conduit has been removed.
